I dedicate this recipe of Cheesy Bread Potato Candy to my little Angel. She inspired me to think something innovative this time. As I told you Kids are often addicted to noodles and other junk foods. I don’t say other foods are not nutritious but they are great source of supplementing Junk nutritious as well. So we as a responsible parent have to find some way out to encourage those taking foods which provide them sufficient nutrients. But, as someone told in Hindi, “Agar tum Ser ho to hum Sawa Ser hey…”. To make kids eat nutritious food is not everybody’s cup of tea. I have few of my friends who often complaint, that their kids resist whatever nutritious food they give.

At this time I always encourage them to refer FoodI Blog, Fun and Excitement is what we deliver. Okay, now I am not promoting FoodI Blog. But at FoodI Blog we always try to deliver our best. But it would only be possible with your valuable comments and suggestions. As we believe in team work.

Aaah, lets get back to our main topic. Cheesy Bread Potato Candy, is a great hit among all age groups. Seriously, this is much welcomed by Kids as well as adults. These miniature party pieces will have them rushing back for more.

Preparation Time : 10 to 15 mins. Depending on your speed
Cooking Time : 12 to 15 mins.
This recipe makes 8 Potato candies.

Ingredients
1 cup boiled and grated potatoes
1/4 cup grated carrot
1 brown bread slice (soak bread slices in water and squeeze them to drain out excess water)
1 cheese cube (Make thin or thick slices)
1/2 tsp ginger-green chilli paste (Adrak-Hari mirch paste)
2 tbsp fresh chopped coriander (dhania)
a pinch of sugar
salt to taste
Other ingredients
2 tsp oil for cooking
8 candy sticks or tooth picks

Method
Cut the cheese cube into equal pieces and keep aside. Cheese cube pieces should be as per your appetite.

Soak bread slices in water. Squeeze out excess water and mash them. Keep aside mashed breads.

In a bowl, add potatoes, carrots, ginger, green chilli paste, fresh coriander, sugar, salt (as per taste) and mix well.

Divide this mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat round.
Place a cheese cube in the centre of each round and shape into ovals or any shapes you want as shown in the picture.

Pierce a candy stick into each oval and reshape the potato candies on the stick as shown in the main recipe picture. Keep aside.

This candies can be Deep fried or Shallow Fried. I used Shallow fry method, as I am a bit Calorie conscious. For shallow frying, cook on both sides on a lightly greased non-stick pan till candies are golden brown using a little oil necessary.

I haven’t tried backing these candies, but I will try it and let you know the results.

Serve hot.
